The Silverback Marketing Round-up for April 16-April 20, 2012

The Silverback Marketing Round-up for April 16-April 20, 2012Yesterday Silverback Marketing discussed the overwhelming success Facebook experienced the first quarter of this year. Facebook has accomplished an incredible amount in just eight years and two months and the social network shows no signs of slowing down. By filing for an initial public offering on February 1, 2012 and launching its new Timeline look for personal pages in just two days, the online world will continue to be exposed to Facebook for what appears to be a very long time.

There are many characteristics about this social medium that are intriguing but one to focus on for this particular post is the ability of Facebook to continuously reinvent itself. Change seems to annoy many users of social media but Facebook has never been shy about launching features that may cause that to occur. However, the fact that the number of people using this social brand seems to constantly rise indicates the online world may like to grumble but enjoys using the social network too much to ever completely stay away.

The recent acquisition of Instagram was questioned by many people but appears to be another very shrewd move on the part of CEO and President of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg. There are rumors that the February filing for public offering by Facebook has led to an official offering on May 7. Buying Instagram may enable Facebook to profit even more if theories are correct that the Instagram acquisition caused Facebook’s value to increase.

The first quarter report Silverback posted about Thursday, April 19, 2012 provides reason for Facebook’s chief officers to be extremely optimistic for the future. Regardless of how users feel about Timeline, Facebook’s privacy practices and whatever the next big edit will be, there is no evidence to suggest the social network will not continue to grow in its number of users and popularity.

Don’t forget folks, if you own a personal Facebook profile and have not changed to the new Timeline look, that process will occur whether you are prepared or not on Sunday, April 22. Take some time to determine how to make Timeline work for you!
